I use BY licenses lots of times, but i also use BY NC licenses from time to time, particularly when I am using an NC sample. The BY license gets my work used in lots of video projects, because film-makers know it is no hassle to use the work, with attribution. But I'm not doctrinaire about it. I've read a soul or two who actually got more paid downloads than free downloads--and I may use tunecore or a simlar service to release a conventional "pay to download" release someday. I wouldn't do this to make money so much as to get my work offered to more folks in more ways. To me, it's all about sharing the music, but part and parcel of that is to get the music out there, one way or another.
Thank You for Your friendly wishes :-) Actually, the situation already is slightly better than a week ago, though we'll have to see if the trend will last. It will remain a walk on the knife's edge for the rest of the year, I guess...
I had a dream this morning - I was at the bank with some business, and behind the (bar? I need to extend my English vocabulary...) there stood a really BIG used keyboard workstation (the size of a table, with built-in vocoder and seemingly from Yamaha...) for sale - the banker teased me with demonstrating the features of that thing, and really wanted to buy it. Obviously, it was way too expensive for me (but the guy promised to call me if the prize should ever decrease...).
Anyway - I like that dream, if only for the fact that usually my dreams are a uncomprehensible mess, while the meaning of this one was quite plan... ;-)
Sorry I have been absent for many months. I exhibit at educational trade shows and trade show season will take me into early May (since last September). But I've been listening....and working on a new mix...
Thanks, I guess I just couldn't resist it (an extension of our psycho-geographic slant perhaps). Actually, I'm a big fan of said cards... I really went for the idea back at college and set about making my own. They were certainly oblique(!), but they can't have been entirely useless, as I still have a selection taped to the studio wall. Favourites include, 'record nothing via a microphone' and 'leave out everything but those notes remaining'. I guess it's all in the interpretation...
Thank you, I certainly intend to... Perhaps after this - glances at the disparate array of sonic devices and slumbering Studio Dog that blot out most of the Little Studio floor. In the meantime here's a taste of the music we make here;
I was listening on another station this morning and heard you interstitile ( sorry for the spelling at least I think thats you in one of your earlier incarnations)playing with Altus in 2002 The song was rhythmical and listened to it and then found it and it off the web. Atom was closed but found it elsewhere
This is a nice country for your net label and many people in Switzerland are acquainted with this Ambient music. But playing live would help you make friends with the inhabitants and learn the lay of the land.
No Joke I know Shane preforms live and ISHQ but do you do live shows.
