Listening + Commenting. Looking + Commenting. Reading + Commenting.

Robert Scott Thompson just brought up a very good point.... he posted multiple tracks to no comments.

I know others have - you toss something out there and get no feedback - it's a bit disheartening.

Of course - that happens all the time - but in this community - we're all artists.   Music, art, poetry, photography, writing.

You'd think we'd be the first ones to jump on listening or looking.

Well, in my case - I couldn't listen easy - it took a nice evening or weekend with a spare half hour to 'catch up' and listen to a few tracks.  Easier for me to view photos  - but taking the time to comment... yeah - ok - I don't do that all that often either.

I enjoy them!  When I do listen - I enjoy it - I try to comment.  Sometimes it's a quick one line comment - often it is -but I think that's better than no comment at all.  At least the artist knows I took the time to listen or read or view.

So - when you can squeeze in some time - do it!  Make an artist's day by letting them know you saw or heard their work.

Notice the darn lovely group player from soundcloud? Many of us use soundcloud now and then... maybe a special rM Community soundcloud group? I would most definitely need someone to "run" this.

Making a good social connection might be a great way for community members to get some tracks heard, and I think John is already promoting that with "featured member" posts and community update blogs. Personally, I know I am more likely to check out a new track from someone that I am already familiar with.  It's not that I'm not interested in listening to more music, it's that people I've made some kind of connection with will strike my interest more. Maybe if we have more introductions of new members, reviews of member projects, and we interview each other from time-to-time it might spark some good relationships between members.  It might even be music you may not usually think of listening to, but knowing that member more as a person might lead you to considering their music more.

Posting solitary tracks is great, and it should continue.  That's where you get that personal connection.  In my own experience, I'll read the blog, but I may not have the time to actually get into the track! That's where a music player might work really well.  We can catch up on our listening much easier and can then refer back to the artist.

John: i think the tag "musicpost" would fit very well to collect all music under one big pool.

or a soundcloud player under the layer "music"

i have two groups on soundcloud and i know its an easy way to manage those groups. you just have to create a moderated group. then all members who already host music on soundcloud can join the group. the group-founder can easily add every member as moderater to the group. that allows them posting tracks without moderation and keep non-members away. one weekly check for unwanted pieces and its done and we have a player with member music. even if the group founder disapear the group stays (i assume). i could do this easily if you want me to do. i know the process and i have fun in inviting people (rM members) to the group. a few of you already sharing in my space ambient group : )

ps: listening to Jeffreys upcoming music, very relaxing on this sunny autumn day : )

i opened a group on soundcloud for relaxed machinery community music. if you like to participate with your music you are very welcome to share, listen and comment. it is a first try and suggestion for bringing together our music for connecting and inspirations. maybe we can find a way to integrate the player here somewhere. if anybody is interested we could post an official announcement here with a how to join and share. what do you think?

Thanks Jana! Nice idea. I've added my 9-25 Live Clip, and I'll probably change it every couple weeks. :)

I've added to the front page and I can use the html5 widget in that box - so it looks prettier now.  I've also shared 4 of my older tracks.   Thank you Jana!

All I can say is, there's such a huge amount of music being posted here every day, that no one should take it too personally if people listen, but don't comment. If it doesn't get the attention you'd like, re-post, bump it back to the front...seems legit to me.

I check in all the time, listen and "Like" when I can, but I do miss things.

Awesome! Thank you so much, Jana, for volunteering! I enter music via Souncloud for another online community, and it works great.  The comment section on the timeline is an interesting way to get feedback on your music, and a more interactive way to share.  Also, this will be a great way to promote the whole community to the outside world.  I know I'll be posting the Soundcloud group on Facebook and spreading the link around!
