My review of "Broadcast" CD by Spuntic

Databloem's Dennis Knopper is always very good in bringing into the map some new unknown names and Spuntic is certainly no exception in these adventurous explorations. Mehdi Saleh aka IX, the driving force behind Spuntic, is an Iranian soundscaper, based in Tehran, who belongs to the leading forces of the growing electronic…See More

My review of "Inside The Rain Chamber" CD by Neu Gestalt

The sole protagonist behind Neu Gestalt, in Edinburgh, Scotland based ambient downtempo sound wizard Les Scott has released his 3rd album "Inside The Rain Chamber" on domiciliar, Paul Croan's label Alex Tronic Records, just like his previous two albums "Altered Carbon" (2008) and "Weightless Hours" (2012). Out since December…See More

Profile Information

Tell us about yourself!
First of all, I am a big fan, collector, occasional contributor and reviewer of CDs in ambient, tribal and deep space genre on Discogs.

Now let me introduce myself (February 2011):

My name is Richard Gürtler and I am saying hello to you from Bratislava in Slovak Republic, Europe!!! I am new to this forum, so I would like to introduce myself. I just turned 10 days ago 45 years and I am absolutely fascinated by ambient music. I have been listening to the electronic music since 1983, but during these early years I was into other genres, like electro-industrial, ebm... Since 1992 to 1995 I was also one of the publishers and reviewers of English written electrozine called Crewzine and until 1998 I was running also a small mail-order catalogue with related music. The turning point came around 1995 when I have discovered "Trances/Drones" 2CD by Robert Rich and soon after that other artists through Fathom/HoS and Projekt labels like Steve Roach, Michael Stearns, Vidna Obmana, TUU... My search was finally over!!!

In my real life, I live since 1996 with my lovely girlfriend Simona together with her son Daniel (23 years old) and her daughter Veronika (19 years old). We know each other since our high school years. During the season (from March till December) I work as service technician for irrigation lawn sprinkler systems. During the winter time I usually have a part-time job in one of Bratislava's theatres (Studio L&S) where I work as podium technician (building the scenes...). Simona works as a teacher (2nd grade in elementary school). We enjoy sporting activities (especially inline and ice skating), watching sports, hiking, taking photographs of nature, good food and good beer (Belgian Leffe Brune and Czech Bernard 14° are our top fave...). We live in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovak Republic in Central Europe, which used to be a part of former CzechoSlovakia (split up in 1993).

Back to ambient music. Unfortunately, during the years 1999-2007 I was totally out of music. My family, smaller kids (very serious collecting of hockey cards with my son Daniel), my work, some unexpected sporting activities (active inline speedskating for four seasons), very expensive US dollar here in Slovakia at the end of the 90's, broken CD player and discman... all this took me out of music completely. No ambient music at all... It took me almost 10 years to return and since September of 2007 I took a new journey to re-explore again the magnificent soundworlds of ambient music!!! I was back again in the good old days and stronger than ever. So I am now a big fan of this music, a real collector of CDs and I am again in contact with many really nice people within this musical genre.

Okay my friends, it's my great pleasure to be a member of this community!!! All the best, have a wonderful time and enjoy the music!!!

With friendly greetings, Richard

December 2013 update:

No longer in irrigation business, since June 2011 moved on to work with cooling ceiling systems, all year long, so my part-time job is also gone. Less hair, bigger belly, enjoying also Kaltenecker beer..., the rest remains the same.

Richard :-)

"The Past Is Another Country" is his 7th full length album, which was self-released in the middle of October 2014 as a standard jewel case edition with 4-panel front insert and…
