Edgar Froese tribute track for a recent radio show

This track is my contribution to a tribute radio show in honour of Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese, who passed away this January - and who was one of my biggest musical heros."Everlasting Footprints" will be included later this year in a memorial V/A compilation - well, in TWO compilations actually, one to be released on Relaxed Machinery even (curated by Stillstream radio host Rebekkah Hilgraves). However, for this occasion, a considerably different version of the track will be…See More

Profile Information

Tell us about yourself!
I'm a spare time musician/producer of ambient music (and occasionally other electronic styles...even more occasionally rock or jazz...) since about 1993.
I have studied design and earn a living for my small family and me as a designer and printer in a small (but fine) printing shop (or "typographical studio", as we call it...) in Mainz (the city of Gutenberg...).
Earlier in my life I also used to paint, draw and write, but due to time limitations, this moved a bit to the background...

Hi Michael, the story goes like this...

There are two other musicians named "Steve Duff" on the internet. Not wanting to be mistaken for either of them (even though I am the elder) I adopted the Gaelic spelling. It's rarer and more mysterious sounding too!

Steve/Stiofan    whatever........!

Nice to meet you here also !! Sometimes the internet makes it a very small world..or is it that the online ambient community is small ? :)

I saw your post on Giles (Placement) page about your family business - best wishes on that and I certainly hope the economic situation brightens in your area!

You certainly have those good wishes. I'm a graphic designer by qualification too, although I'm afraid the combination of desktop publishing and the last big recession rather destroyed that for me before I even got out of college. I really hope the situation comes good for you and that there's some light at the end of the tunnel soon... /Giles

Indeed Michael you're right, Myspace is in a terrible pickle! So it's just as well to be able to communicate elsewhere... All's well here thanks very much and I hope things are good where you are too!

Hello Michael!

Thank you for adding me...again! Happy New Year for you also.

I think I have no early recordings from 70's left. It's better for all of us and for our ears.

Best wishes

Ari

"Hochofen", a new album with Gustavo Jobim released on Plataforma Records

Posted on November 6, 2014 at 12:00pm 0 Comments

Brazilian electronic music composer Gustavo Jobim and myself started a collaboration already a few years back - now the results have finally been released by the Brazilian netlabel Plataforma Records, which is specialised on rather bizarre experimental electronica.

"Hochofen", however, has - although indeed slighly bizzarre - more of a "neo krautrock meets industrial" touch.

It's also a free release.

Get it here:…
