"The PR thing only backfired with a vocal minority I think...  9 of their back catalog albums reentered the itunes top 100 sales - all of them are at $5.99 each.  And yeah - Heidi and I might buy one or two at that price.   So - all in…"

"CDBaby just a week ago announced their new CDBaby Free, an attempt to catch up with Bandcamp. But it still kinda sucks by comparison to Bandcamp as far as limitations. Yesterday I heard one of the new U2 tracks, some self-consciously reverent paean…"

"Again yes, Bandcamp is the best set-up (IMO) for most ambient artists (and listeners) currently, I don't think they have any real competitors either (?) So has the U2 PR thing backfired somewhat ? "

"Oh yeah - I found the panels a bit off as well... but something fun to spark thoughts on it.  Har nailed it on current - it's not easy happy highway to the artist through itunes, spotify, pandora (if you make their cut - ha!),…"

"Yeah, somewhat over-simplified and not strictly accurate. Slightly off-topic, but I read the free U2 album hasn't gone down universally well with all Apple people."

"Sadly the "How it is now" alluding to iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and YouTube somehow being a fast, happy and direct money highway to the artist is pretty off the mark. "Where it needs to go from here" is already happening via…"

Cheers John for featuring the photography stuff !

There's nothing like getting a new camera to inspire new things. I've added a filter adapter to my Sony RX100, so I'm playing with an InfraRed filter, graduated color filters and the like.
